Eucharistic Adoration

The Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by volunteers who sign up for one hour or more to pray before the Lord Jesus present in the Monstrance. Contact Gloria Murren at 717-479-1071.

Adult Altar Servers

Help during daily mass and funeral liturgies. By invitation and appointment of the pastor.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers are a very important part of the Mass celebration, providing assistance to the Priest and Deacon and being an example in prayer to all who are in attendance at Mass. Boys & girls in at least 4th grade are eligible to volunteer for this ministry. Instruction classes are given prior to serving at mass. Contact: Therese Klunk at 717-634-7929 for more information.

Extra-Ordinary Ministers

Assist the pastor in giving communion at mass and taking communion to the sick and shut-ins of the parish. By invitation of the Pastor. Contact is Connie Klunk at 717-632-8049.

Finance Council

Advises the Pastor on financial matters of the parish and school. By appointment of the pastor.

Food Pantry

Our Parish Food Pantry is open to all those in our community, not just parishioners. It is open to anyone in need of food (no questions asked and no financial records required). Our Food Pantry is located at Annunciation B.V.M. Parish House at 9 N. Third St., McSherrystown.

Hours of Operation: 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month from 4-5pm and the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10-11am. Please contact the Parish Office at 717-637-1191.

Grocery Card Program

Through the sale of Giant & Weis Gift cards, sold after all masses and at the Parish Office. The parish receives 5% of the sales of the cards and the proceeds go into the Restoration Fund. For more information, contact Ched Lawrence at 717-637-6646.

Lectors

Proclaiming God’s Word as a Lector is a special privilege and ministry to which you have been called. By invitation. Coordinator, Mr Dan Staub 717-451-8444.

Music Ministry

Join together in song, under the talented direction of our choir director, Patrick Colgan.  Contact the choir director at 717-968-8358.

Offertory Counters

A group that counts the funds collected at Mass each week. Each group volunteers about once a month.By appointment of the pastor.

Parish Pastoral Council

The PPC is involved in most activities and programs effecting the liturgical and spiritual life of Annunciation Parish. Members are voted in to the position. Chairperson is Miss Angela Rider, 717-630-9092.

Pro-Life

Unite as a community praying the Rosary for the sanctity of all life from conception until natural death. Contact Grace Elser at 717-632-5341.

Stations of the Cross

Held Friday evenings at 7:00PM in the Church during Lent.

Usher

The Usher/Greeter/Minister of Hospitality is a person chosen to reflect the warmth and welcome of Christ Himself to all the faithful assembled for worship. They are the first point of contact for the communal celebration of the Liturgy and should take special steps in being living representatives of the Parish Mission Statement. The ministry now goes beyond taking up the collection and distributing materials in church. Today the role includes "welcoming" our brothers and sisters in Christ, greeting newcomers, and assisting in emergencies. For more information contact the Parish Office at 717-637-1191.

Meeting Minutes

November 10, 2021

 

The Annunciation Parish Pastoral Council met Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at St. Teresa of Calcutta School with the following in attendance:    Fr. Fr Lyons opened the meeting with a prayer.

October meeting minutes where previously approved by Dave Blankenship and Dan Klunk.  Meeting Minutes will be approved by Council members through email review and comment.

Pastors Report

  • Property Insurance provider examined the ceiling and deemed none of the damage is covered by the policy.  Property Insurance provider also examined the roof and found a few issues that will be addressed once the full report is received from the Insurance provider.
  • Still awaiting HVAC quote from Conewago
  • No update on security system for the church and rectory
  • Street Evangelization program is moving forward with the cooperation of other parishes.  This program will be similar to the St. Paul’s Street Evangelization program.  https://streetevangelization.com/

Education Report:

  • Classes are going well
  • March for Life, 01/21/22, sign-up will be available soon.  Tentative schedule:  Meet at Sacred Heart @ 7am for Mass, leave for event, dinner in Thurmont, MD on return, expect to return to Sacred Heart around 8pm.  RSVP by 12/10/2021

New Business:

  • Chosen Christmas Special @ Hanover RC Theater, Dec 1st - 10th
  • Ministry Fair meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 18 @ 7pm

Fall Festival Update:

  • All that attended had a good time
  • Need more prizes for kids next year
  • Hay ride was well received
    • Option to expand hayride to local farm was discussed
  • Perhaps post more advertising, perhaps Facebook page, parish website, school insert, etc
  • Need a better tabulation of attendance
  • Perhaps a name change?
  • Storage of left over Arts & Crafts in CCD classroom
  • Thank you cards will be mailed to the many business sponsors, as well as placing the names of the sponsors in a special insert into the bulletin
